The sun has finally stayed out long enough to warm up the path at Kalmbach.   There is a type of healing- therapy in the glow of the sun.   Harriet Tubman once said, “I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person. There was such a glory over everything. The sun came up like gold through the trees, and I felt like I was in heaven.”   Tubman must have felt at that moment the healing powers of the sun’s light and its ability to change one’s perspective. When sunlight peeks through the thick of trees and lightens a thought or mood, can it really create a sensation of healing?  Nature has that innate way to heal if we are open and allow it to.  Mental health is more prevalent than ever before and we are kept working longer hours inside without the chance of being part of the outdoors and feeling the sunlight on our faces.  Research has proven that just a few extra minutes outside every day can improve mood and enhance the quality of life.  Why do we not incorporate an outside walk into our daily routine?   All it would take is one simple change and the outside world could be part of what we do every day.  Kalmbach is a reminder of how important the outside world is to all and how it can heal an ailing mind.  The sun brings warmth but it also brings hope that its light will shine the next day again and again and again…

As spring is nearing, I hope that all who are reading this blog find joy in the warmth of the sun and know that its light will bring you solace.

See you along the path…
